Burn your portfolio... the stuff they don't teach you in design school BUT should.  Creative design and technical skills account for only a fraction of your value of client to an employer. If you want to succeed in your career as a graphic designer, you need to focus time and engery into developing your interpersonal skills. Best graphic designers regularly and purposely go the extra mile! If your boss asks for 2 comps, give him 3. If your boss wants work on his desk by 3pm, get it to him by 2pm. ALWAYS GO THE EXTRA MILE AND EXCEED EXPECTATIONS!! Graphic designers are often known as sensitive, in fact it might just be all artists have thin skin and cannot take criticism.  You WANT a hunger for feedback, advice, and critque whenever you can get it. Feedback is CRITICAL You not only need to learn to welcome feedback and criticism but also learn have to desire it.
